Sarah Joy, Clinical Hypnotherapist

Sarah trained as an occupational therapist, graduating with an honours degree in health sciences. She became interested in clinical hypnotherapy whilst working in the NHS with adults with mental health problems. This led her to training with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (www.lcch.co.uk). Sarah gained the Certificate, Diploma (with distinction) and Practitioner Diploma with the LCCH and became a full member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (www.bsch.org.uk).

Whilst working in the NHS, Sarah was given permission to use hypnotherapy to treat NHS employees. Regular feedback from these patients proved the efficacy of hypnotherapy as a treatment method and this led her to becoming a full-time clinical hypnotherapist.

Sarah specialises in helping people with emotional difficulties, who may be experiencing such emotions as anger, anxiety, fear, hurt, guilt, and resentment, which may have led to lack of confidence, low self-esteem, panic attacks, phobias, addictions, stress and other difficulties.

Sarah meets regularly with fellow professionals to share new ideas and techniques and to participate in clinical supervision. She has full professional indemnity insurance cover.

The LCCH is a recognised faculty of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis, an organisation that governs the code, practice and ethics of its members. Members acquire the requisite professional and clinical training in the major aspects of psychology, psychotherapy, and hypnotherapy. The LCCH carries out ongoing scientific research into hypnosis and associated fields.

LCCH courses are now contributing to the curriculum in medical and complementary health degrees. Major teaching hospitals including St. Bartholomew’s, Guys and St. Thomas, have involved the LCCH in their tuition and studies. The British Accreditation Council, the Open University, the University of Greenwich and the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) have accredited the LCCH. Recently, the Malaysian Academy of Medicine has also accredited the LCCH.
